The Porter County Adult Probation Department conducts prehearing and presentence investigations. Located in Valparaiso, Ind., the department utilizes electronic home monitoring equipment to restrict the movement of adult felons. It also provides probation supervision and counseling services. The Porter County Adult Probation Department administers the Porter County Alcohol and Drug Offender Services (PCADOS) program, which includes assessment, educational and treatment services for substance abuse offenders. In addition, the department offers pretrial and employment assistance services, as well as promotes public safety. The Porter County Adult Probation Department additionally administers the Community Transitional Program, which helps offenders transition from prisons into the community.
