I was referred to Ear, Nose and Throat of the Northwest by Legacy. Before I got any of the subsequent 6 surgeries, I told them that I wanted a second opinion. They got all upset so I agreed to get the first surgery, the second was to fix what they'd botched on the first and so on and so forth up until the 6th surgery. All of which I was billed for. Legacy referred me to a different specialist who took a look and said that I was a mess and there was nothing he could do for me and referred me to OHSU. The entire OHSU staff said that I'd been butchered and six surgeries was unnecessary. Two maybe three would've been necessary but NEVER 6. After all those surgeries E.N. & Throat of the NW decided to do allergy testing and discovered that I am severely allergic to six different kinds of mold. All the doctors that'd seen me should’ve done the allergy tests first because I probably would not have needed ANY surgeries. Dr. Wilson (of E.N. & Throat) quit prescribing pain medication for the massive headaches caused by the unneeded surgeries. I stagger and fall down. All my doctors have said that the sinus' play a large part in equilibrium and that I have none left after E.N. & Throat butchered me. This is why I have such bad problems with my balance and stumble and fall a lot. All of this has had a profoundly negative affect on my quality of life. I can't taste or smell anything...there's no joy to eating. People don't understand how even the absence of simple everyday smells that are taken for granted can be life threatening and depressing. When one can no longer enjoy the smell of coffee brewing and bacon frying in the morning... finding the motivation to get up out of bed is difficult. . E.N. & Throat of the NW STOLE my sense of taste and smell, due to their negligence I am paying the price - Literally. To add insult to injury, not only did I pay them to essentially maim me and handicap me. I am unable to be alerted to danger; putting my life at risk should there be a fire or natural gas leak. I could accidentally leave a pot on the stove and not be able to smell it burning in time to stop a fire. Experiencing life through a filter, knowing it was completely avoidable and unnecessary is a horrible feeling. Especially when the fault lies with a specialist, someone who we trust has specific training in his area of expertise, someone my doctor's referred me to. I trusted Dr. Wilson to know what he was doing and to provide me with the best care possible, what I got was a hack job. This whole situation could've been avoided if Dr. Wilson had taken the time and effort to do a simple allergy test instead of going to the extreme and doing surgery as the first and only option. Had I gone immediately to get that second opinion, before the first surgery, I would still have my sense of smell and taste as well as my sinus' My quality of life can only be described as living in black and white instead of color. I'm sure a medical malpractice lawyer would find all this extremely interesting. It is my intent to file a malpractice suit against Dr. Wilson, a process he's not a stranger to as he has setttled out of court in a previous malpractice suit. I find it a bit ironic that recently I recieved a letter from a collection agency informing me that E.N. & Throat of the NW had sent the balance of $160.00 to collections. I deserve to be reimbursed and compensaed for what they've done to me physically and emotionally.
