N.W. Bird Rescue’s primary activity is to provide sanctuary and care for all exotic parrots that are seeking a new home. Some parrots that are not suitable for adoption or placement are placed in foster care or will be placed in our sanctuary program. June 1st, 2015, NW Bird Rescue Founded our Parrots For Patriots Program . Working with the support of our Department of Veterans Affairs Parrots For Patriots places tame, orphaned parrots, as companion parrots with veterans and spouses of veterans, starting in the Northwestern portion of the US. (Washington State, Oregon and Idaho currently). The adoption fees for our veterans are extremely reasonable, and vary upon the size of parrot and their age, history and accessories that accompanied the parrot. All adoption fees are far less than 50% of the normal retail cost of just purchasing a parrot from a pet store. Our veterans’ adoption fee also includes their parrot’s large cage, toys, a custom parrot carrier, and two weeks of a specialized seed mix and diet recommendation for the type of parrot they qualify to adopt.

- N.W. Bird Rescue will help wildlife when available. Our primary service is to provide sanctuary for all exotic birds that are not suitable for adoption or placement. We maintain a special hospice area with around the clock care for elderly parrots as well as parrots that are mentally ill, maimed, or self mutilated. N.W. Bird Rescue offers a home for birds with chronic disease, supplying supportive care and nurturance from staff dedicated to meet the needs of the individual bird. N.W. Bird Rescue also offers sanctuary for parrots whose owners are incarcerated or have specifically requested that their parrot be placed in foster care or remain in permanent sanctuary. Our facilities provide a safe haven for birds that prefer not to interact with humans in a companion animal situation, as well as those that need a new human companion and are available for adoption. A few sanctuary birds are housed in species-specific rooms of our main facility and have access to outdoor flights, abundant enrichment, and psychological and environmental support on a daily basis. All sanctuary birds receive the same high level of care as the birds available for adoption and foster care.
