The Columbian, a daily newspaper, provides local and national news, including weather, traffic, obituaries, local stocks, sports, entertainment, jobs and classifieds, to the residents of Clark County, Wash., and its surrounding areas. In 1890, local printer Tom Carolan published the first issue of the Vancouver Columbian. It was established as a Democratic paper to counter the local Republican publication. A few years later, it switched to a Republican paper. In 1908, the first issue of The Columbian was distributed as a daily newspaper. Since 1994, it has become one of the market leaders. The Columbian is printed and distributed in Vancouver, Wash.
