Located in Vancouver, Wash., the Public Works Department-Engineering Services is responsible for the planning and design of water, storm water and wastewater systems in the city. It undertakes assignments for homes, apartments, schools, churches, stores, service providers and industries. The division offers water system planning and design services in an area of more than 65 square miles. The Public Works Department supports several surface water management programs that provide the direction and technical expertise for the planning, review and design of efficient storm water systems. It additionally supports a water resources protection program that focuses on providing cooperative, technical assistance to businesses and industries to prevent activities that increase the risk of contamination of surface and ground water resources.
