Raymond "Army" Dunmire started working for Armstrong Furniture in 1916. At that time Armstrong owned a combination furniture-funeral business. Florence Dunmire(Army's Wife) first saw Raymond delivering furniture on a horse drawn carriage. After he went overseas in World War 1, she started working at the store for a short time. In 1938 when Armstrong retired, Army bought the business. His Son Jack was already working part-time when Army took over the business. After high school he began working full-time until he was shipped overseas in World War 2. Jack's son Kurt Dunmire began working at the family business in high school and college during the summers. Working with his father, like his father before him, Kurt continued on the family tradition. After his graduation from Penn State he began working full time. After a fire in 1990, uncertain whether he should rebuild, Kurt fought through and the store was re-opened! Now, Kurt with his wife Kate, the tradition continues!
