We bought clothing items for Christmas. At the checkout the clerk told us we could get 40 or 50% off by taking out the Steinmart credit card. I normally don't do that but the discounted offer was so good I accepted. I got the bill in from Synchrony Bank for $160.80 and no discount was given. 3 calls to the bank and 3 transfers was useless. I tried to call the store at least 10 times and no one would answer. So, I called corporate headquarters and was told the local store's phone system "was down and having issues". This has been a big-time bummer experience. I'm beginning to think the lure of 40 or 50% off was made up by that clerk to get a credit card sale. In honesty, I have no proof of that but its a gut feeling I'm getting..

I was recently in the Stein Mart located on Hwy 31 in Birmingham, AL. The computers were down, customers were getting frustrated, etc. This was a perfect scenario for a very negative experience. But one sales person stood out as a positive beacon, Banessa. She was so friendly and had such a pleasant smile and dispostion that you soon forgot about the long lines. She made what could have been a very bad experience a pleasantly memorable experience.

Also, Stein Mart's coupon policy is one of the most liberal ones around these days.

The store is oldfashion and i hate it its not my stile its like a nursey with a lot of old people

I love this store. They have great prices and selection.
