Beads and rocks is the one and only anywhere near here for finding amazing stones and beautiful art in the same building, you really have to see it to believe it. Five stars from a Virginia Beach resident.

I shopped at this location a few weeks ago and dealt with a very kind clerk who made good suggestions and offered great ideas. I purchased several sterling silver findings and she priced each one from $.40 to $.60 after weighing them to determine their value. Because of her good service and suggestions, I bought a couple hundred dollars worth of findings and bead strands to make jewelry.

I returned to the store today and she wasn't their. In her place were the owners and I instantly remembered having encountered them many years ago and remembered how foul and rude they were. I'd hoped that they might have changed or perhaps my perceptions had been incorrect all those years ago.

I wanted to purchase more of the same findings and while I was sorting out what I wanted one of the owners began to talk ill of a previous customer who'd selected some silver findings and then when they told her the price she didn't buy anything. I thought it was a poor business practice to speak so badly of a customer to another customer but ignored it.

When I'd finished selecting my findings she quoted me a price over $100.00 for a small amount of silver findings. She told me the price was $3.00 per gram and I explained that this was nowhere near the price I'd paid just a few weeks ago. Her response was snarky and she said, "Well, you got a good deal didn't you?" I honestly didn't know how to respond to such a nasty and rude remark. When I told her that I frequently buy silver for my jewelry making and I've never paid that much for such a small amount of silver. She told me the price of silver had risen. Well, in case the foul and rude woman reads this, the price of silver per gram as of 5.4.13 is $.72/gram and not $3.00. I didn't buy anything either.

After that, I remembered why I'd stopped shopping with them back in the 90's.They were both foul, unkind, rude and unwelcoming even then. I don't mind paying a little more to support a local business because I know a business needs to make a profit, but when you sell me the same thing at a price one week and then increase that price astronomically within a few weeks while adding a horrid attitude and rude remarks, you are not a business I want to support. There are other shops locally who want your business and there are many online sources who sell better quality products at more reasonable prices.



If you don't care about good service, don't mind inconsistent pricing and don't mind being spoken to as though you're not worth the time of day, then by all means spend your money there. As for me, I will never shop there again.
