My experiences in special education include a Master of Science from the University of Tennessee, and a doctorate from Vanderbilt University. My teaching experiences included deaf and hearing impaired and speech language pathology. I served as an elementary, then middle school principal before moving into district administration as a special education director. I served in this capacity for over twenty years. As a mother of an adult son with Asperger's Syndrome, my work with families has always been based on these tenets: (1) parents know their child best; (2) listening to what parents have to say is crucial in developing a program for their child; and (3) parents are equal partners on the team.Recently retired, my husband and I moved to Virginia Beach to be near family. It is my goal to continue to assist families as they seek services that lead to the educational success of their child.
