When you donate goods to The Salvation Army, those items are then sold at our Family Stores. Proceeds are used to fund our Adult Rehabilitation Centers, where those struggling with drugs and alcohol find help, hope, and a second chance at life.

I sometimes went to their auctions.. A farce! I quickly learned that many private thrift store owners went there and made side deals with the participants. J....was notorious for intimidating other bidders not to go against him. Buyers who sent their purchases to Africa and the Philippines were also known to make side deals. All too often, some bidders bid on a bin no one "wanted" because something of greater value had been stashed for them/buried way down in the bin and no one knew it was there. Too many shady deals going on . Often items for bid were taken to private vans and trucks without the auction participants not having had a chance to bid on them. J......and his wife were known for this. All too often having made beforehand deals with the assigned auctioneer.

They take advantage of the customer if he/she is looking for something that they need such as donations of health care supplies. They don't care for the customer, they care for that money. You call them and they are very rude, and when don't have an answer
they transfer you to voice mail.

I, for one, have never liked the Salvation Army as I find the people very unfriendly and just recently I called them to do a pick up and the idiot driver would not come to my place because of road work being done. I told them that he could drive up to the building as I have had cabs come pick me up here even when there was work going on. The stupid driver still wouldn't pick up and there wasn't anyone in that store who was over him to tell him to do this. I felt that they were petty and didn't want to help me out here by taking the items I had for them. I don't think I will donate my money anymore to them because of my nightmarish experience I had with them when I lived in one of their homeless shelters. These people are just in it for the money and to hell with everyone and everything else.
