Stayed at the Silver Queen Hotel last Friday 4-4-08 (they were booked for Saturday, so we had to stay elsewhere Sat. night). Let me say this: Virginia City is a historical town, and the Silver Queen Hotel is 132 yrs. old. Now, if you are uptight and absolutely cannot survive without the modern amenities we are all accustomed to today, then Virginia City is not the place for you. The rooms at the Silver Queen are small and quaint, but CLEAN! Which is more than I can say about the motel we were stuck with Saturday night, and it is definitely newer than the Queen. So, old does not mean dirty. As for the bad reviews regarding the staff at the Queen, we loved Darlene and Karen! In fact, we always ended up back there for a drink and visit, even though, as I stated earlier, we couldn't spend the 2nd night at the Queen. We kept going back there because the staff was very fun and very accommodating. We absolutely HAD to take a bath in the claw foot tub in room 11. They just don't make tubs like they used to. Unfortunately, there was a down side to our stay. We really wanted to experience paranormal activity, but it just didn't happen for us.
