Sugarloaf Mountain Motel was built as a Boarding House for Miners in 1878. Three of the 12 rooms are from the Historical Boarding House, and contain the original brick, rock, mortar, and iron windows. Guests who have stayed at the Motel insist there are 'ghosts' still roaming the property from the 1800's. The Motel includes spacious parking, outside seating with a bar-b-que, and a convenient Market; all within walking distance to downtown Virginia City.Sugarloaf Mountain Motel was built as a Boarding House for Miners in 1878. Little Get Aways

My husband and I enjoy Virginia City very much. The people are fun loving and friendly. We enjoy seeing the "Gunfighters", and the ladies who dress up for the era. We have stayed on 3 occassions at the Sugar Loaf and find the rooms charming, welcoming, clean and well stocked with ALL the necessary amenities a person needs for a little getaway. Steve and Carrie always checked to see if we needed anything extra for our room. Very accommodating, friendly and just down to earth people!!! On our last visit, we went with another couple who can't wait to go back to the "Little piece of Heaven". We were there for New Year's and had a wonderful time!! On New Year's morning after ringing in the New Year with the Locals, Steve had coffee ready for everyone in the little grocery store market. What a treat that the morning was a bright sun shiny day of about 45 degrees and we sat by the BBQ, (granted in the parking lot) drinking coffee and watching the traffic go by. How cozy is that? The rooms are so reasonably priced, how could you not stay and enjoy "A Little Get Away"?!!!! And if you really want a treat, ask for room 2 and see what visits you in the night?

Stayed with New Owners

Went to the Sugarloaf again, after being purchased by new owners. Our stay was wonderful, the new owners are very friendly. Look forward to going back, and the opening of the new market. Would recommed this little get away to anyone who gets tired of the "cookie cutter" hotels!
