Had my snow blower serviced last year and the owner, Fred was abusive and rude. I needed another one serviced this year and decided that his foul language may have been a onetime occurrence. They picked up my snow blower and serviced it and delivered it to my house. I was on the phone when Fred showed up at my door and directed him in. I wrote out a check for a price $40 more than quoted and Fred started telling me what he would not guarantee and I stopped him and said that I was very busy and that it would be fine. My 85 year old mother was sitting at the table when Fred started unloading the F bomb. I told him that nobody speaks to me that way and to get out of my house. He then proceeds to tell me (after he had my check) that he was going to take the snow blower back. I went out my garage door and took it into my garage and then the f bombs started again. I told him to get off my property and he even threatened to take a swing at me. This guy has anger issues and likes to bully people. He said he did not need my business, which is fine with me, but I will spread the word to all my friends. By reading the reviews I can see his foul language and abusive behavior is a pattern. I have no problem with the work, just his gutter mouth and abusive behavior
Yes, we serviced a snowblower for this customer last year. It was a small machine he brought to our shop himself. It showed very poor, or no maintenance and the carb was full of old contaminates. The oil was black and it would not run. When we tried to advise the customer on proper care to keep the machine running, we got a debate, his views, etc. We guaranty our work. So, a customerâs insistence upon doing it his way, usually ends up in a machine not running and phone calls to the dealer. So yes, after this first "debate", with our warranty at risk, we're sure we were less than cordial, though we got no complaints about the operation of the machine, as we're sure we would have had it not run well. We didn't know it was the same customer who called this year with a different machine. He didn't want to fully service the machine, just get it started and running. We said that if it is carb service it would cost $125. - $150. with free pick up and delivery. In that phone call the customer was sure that all it needs is this or that, and of course we said that we really wouldn't know until we looked at it. When we checked the oil in his yard, it was black, and that part of service was refused by the customer. Upon looking at the machine at our shop, we found that the carb was dirty, the governor and or throttle linkage was frozen, and the fuel tank had been removed and incorrectly re-installed, which is dangerous because the lower bracket would chafe a hole through the gas tank. We serviced the fuel system, removed and correctly re-installed the gas tank, and freed up the frozen linkage. The bill for this work came to $169.13 with our free pick up and delivery. Before returning it we discussed with the customer of only using new gas, purchased just before the initial use, from a clean jug and that closing the fuel valve and running the carb dry was the only way to keep the carb clean. We did not feel our advise was being taken seriously. When we return a snowblower, we always bring an empty fuel jug in which to place the customers' old gas. Customers always appreciate this. When we returned the machine, the customer motioned us in. We presented the bill and while he was writing the check, we asked if his gas is new. His response was a very dismissive "I'm all set". We asked him a second time if he had only new gas, his response was the same, at which point we said that we are only looking for a yes or a no. The customer blew up and said all those things about "sticking it to him on the price", and what kind of rotten human beings we were. He bellowed that "he was the customer", the customer's always right, and "we should kiss his backside for the work". We told him that we didn't like the way he was talking to us. We told him we were very busy and we would take it back to the shop and he could resolve it with the business owner. He became even more enraged, said that if we tried to take the machine back he would call the police, that he was a fourth degree black belt in karate, and he begged us to "take the first swing". We took his check, left the machine, and our last words were that if he had any trouble with it to call us right away. We can't remember ever being so mistreated, and for $169.13! If we ever knew this was the same customer from the previous experience, we never would have serviced him.

Provided by YP.comThis place is fantastic. Fred and Mary and everyone else in the chain who helped me were great. I bought a Tohatsu 6hp outboard at a great price, supported a mom and pop establishment, and now have the comfort of knowing if there is any issues I have someone to call locally instead of outboards. com or whomever. I was greeted, educated and made to feel very comfortable by the excellent crew there. They spent an hour running the engine before they released it to me and then another half hour explaining everything. From operation to care and maintenance to the problems with ethanol in fuel. The shop is medium sized and stocked very well. I will use these people whenever I can from now on and can recommend them without hesitation.

Provided by YP.comI began going to Boats & Motors back when they had a much smaller shop in Winthrop and due to their great service, prices, and money saving advice have followed them to Wakefield. I keep my boat in Gloucester so I leave a city over loaded with marine stores/service centers to get to Boats & Motors now but they have time and time again proved worth the ride.
When ever purchasing a product whether it be off the shelf or special order I am always given multiple options from OEM to aftermarket or just the same product by a different maker.
The same money saving advice goes for the service. Many times they have told me how to make a repair myself, even at the cost of them not getting the labor to fix my issue, just to see that I leave as a happy customer.
I have recommended this store to many friends and family from Gloucester, Winthrop, Framingham and York, ME that have continued to drive by other big chain marine stores and smaller local ones because the prices, service and unparalleled honesty can't be matched elsewhere.
