I have been familiar with The Wharf Tavern for a long time. The food has been consistently good for years and the view and ambience is still nice. My most recent visit was complimented by superior service. The server (Donna) was knowledgeable , friendly , and nonintrusive. Attention to details , including great service , will mean continued success for this very good restaurant. Get anything on the menu, make a reservation and request Donna .

visited 2/10/12...very pleased...exceptionally attentive waitress,Kathleen,was very helpful and pleasant..Food was delicious,,we had salmon,scrod,fried clams, and lamb chops..Food was served hot and as ordered....very pleasurable dinner,will return soon and,this time,hope to request Kathleen again..Bruce....Lincoln

We went to the Wharf Tavern on Mothers Day. We were a party of 9 that had reservations for 3:30. After standing at the seating podium for ten minutes and being ignored by staff members that were arguing amongst theirselves over the reservation book, we were finally seated by 3;55. We didn't see a waiter tillt 4:30. No one ever came over and said they'd be with us shortly or even acknowlege us. We went up to the bar to get our own drinks. I will say the Bartender was the only staff member with a smile on her face and a personality. At 5:00 the waiter came back to our table and told us they ran out of one of the orders that we had placed a half hour ago. The couple seated behind us with their 2 children, were waiting obviously just as long as us, as when they finally got their food at 5:30, they just put it in a take out container and told the waitress they just wanted to get out. We got our dinners at 6:00 and were out of there by 6:45, after eating and waiting for our check. 3 1/2 hours for service!!!!! I expected a delay as it was mothers day. But with the staff arguing amongst themselves,Customers leaving in disgust and other complaints VERY loudly made by other patrons to the owner, this is obviously not the place for a celebration.

The portions were small on the Chicken Picata, and the Scallop dinners. The butternut squash was watery, as I can only imagine they were running low and thinning it out. And they were already out of some of the menu for people that had 3:30 reservations.

Maybe they do better for lunches on weekdays. That's something I'll never know because it is not worth a second visit.
