Founded in 1913, the American Cancer Society, also known as ACS, is a community-based voluntary health organization that operates more than 3,400 offices throughout the United States. With more than two million volunteers nationwide, it is one of the oldest and largest voluntary health agencies in the U.S. The American Cancer Society emphasizes the elimination of cancer and saving individuals lives through research, education, advocacy and medical social services.
