About CHCI The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute ( CHCI ) is the premier Hispanic non-profit and non-partisan 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) leadership development organization in the country. CHCI's mission is to develop the next generation of Latino leaders by promoting higher education, providing unmatched career development experience, and award-winning leadership development curriculum. The CHCI vision is an educated and civically active Hispanic community contributing at all levels of U.S. society, business, and government. CHCI's Towards 2030 initiative aims to address the critical need for higher education and improved graduation rates among the country's fastest growing and youngest demographic Latinos. By 2030, if projections hold, over 50 percent of the Latino population will be under 24 years of age. By 2025, at least one out of every two workers entering the U.S. labor force will be of Hispanic descent it is imperative that we improve Latino graduation rates. Today the Latino high school drop out rate stands at 40 percent four times higher than non-Hispanic whites. Access to quality education and educational attainment among Latinos is necessary for the U.S. to remain competitive. CHCI accomplishes its mission by offering educational and leadership development programs, services, and activities that promote the growth of participants as effective professionals and strong leaders. In the spirit of building coalitions, CHCI seeks to establish partnerships with other Hispanic and non-Hispanic organizations.
