Greater Washington Initiative is a regional marketing and economic development organization. It promotes the Greater Washington region, including the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland, as an ideal location for locating and expanding a business. The organization produces several publications that include the Aerospace and Defense Industry Overview, The Business of Government and Technology Commercialization in Greater Washington. Greater Washington Initiative s international partners include the Atlantic Canada Opportunity Agency, Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance, Canadian American Business Council, and Canadian Commercial Corporation. It is financially supported by several local public jurisdictions and more than 70 area companies. Greater Washington Initiative offers a range of services, such as identifying strategic partners and venture capital contacts; meeting public and private sector leaders; arranging site tours; and obtaining demographic and real estate information about Greater Washington and its partner jurisdictions. It is affiliated with the Greater Washington Board of Trade.
