Dr. Teresa Doerre is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. She is an Assistant Professor at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and is involved with teaching residents and medical students at GWU. Dr. Doerre earned her undergraduate degree in Biology with a Secondary Field in Health Policy from Harvard University. She attended medical school at New York Medical College, and completed her residency training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. She then completed a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Texas Houston, where she had hands-on experience serving as an assistant team physician for the Houston Texans, Rockets, Astros, Dynamo, University of Houston, and St. Thomas High School. Dr. Doerre treats patients for injuries of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. She believes in an evidence-based approach, but works with patients to develop the optimal treatment plan based on their needs, activity level, and expectations. Dr. Doerre is a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and she has done basic science research to study biologic interventions to improve meniscus and rotator cuff healing. Her research has been presented at national meetings including the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS). She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM).
