The United States International Trade Commission is an independent, quasi-judicial, federal agency that has investigative responsibilities on a variety of trade matters. It investigates the effects of dumped and subsidized imports on domestic industries, as well as conducts global safeguard investigations. The agency adjudicates cases that involve alleged infringement by the imports of intellectual property rights. The United States International Trade Commission serves as a federal resource for gathering and analyzing trade data. It maintains the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS). In addition, the United States International Trade Commission determines import injuries to U.S. industries in antidumping, countervailing duty and global and safeguard investigations.
