My dad had a Sunfish sailboat he had owned for 19 years. It was pretty beat up and I decided to try to have it restored for his 75th birthday. I got Doug's name from Greenville Marine, so I gave him a call. I would not try to restore fiberglass myself. Doug said to bring it down and he'd take a look. What a great decision that was. When I told Doug my plans, his first question was when was my dad's birthday. He removed all the hardware, rebuilt the cracked bow and seat rests, complete with new texture, and re-gelcoated the entire top. He buffed the bottom surface. The boat looked brand new, and it was done a day early. It was a relatively small job and his shop was packed, but Doug took care of it like it was his only job. We plan to take our 22 year old Chaparral down there this winter.

I am a new boat owner and Doug took the time to explain everything to me. He even took me out on my boat to make sure I understood how to operate it and make sure it was running properly. He fixed the floor as well as several other issue with the boat. I give him 5 stars.

I made arrangements to drive a considerable distance to stop by this guy's shop there on Magnolia School Road. I had a technical question or two to ask him in regards to working fiberglass. He wasn't very willing at all to help me or assist in the answering of my questioning. I guess he only helps the affluent. He wasn't doing anything at that particular time. I asked him courteously about my present dilemma, i understand he is attempting to run a business and such but people are your business prospects. If he didn't have time he should have simply stated such, perhaps he was having a bad day, i don't know. All i do know is that i drove a considerable distance to speak to one of the few fiberglass techs within eastern nc and left to return home with no answers. I was a police officer for years and worked in a very stressful, high paced environment however i always had time to speak with and assist "MY" citizens. no way he was under stress in this capacity, but no assistanc

I took my 93 sting ray which had considerable sun damage to Doug @ pamlico boat . he gave me an estimate on the work i wanted which i thought was fair and he claimed they could restore the paint and gel coat to like new he gave me a time frame and a price so i left my boat with him. knowing full well the task he had before him because i tried everything under the sun to restore it myself so i was a bit skeptical. That being said. I was delighted when doug called on time maybe even a few days ahead of schedule and told me my boat was ready.and keep in mind he's a busy guy. They did a great job!!! i am going to take it back to him this winter to have some more work to the interior.I trust him to do what he says he will do. and i dont feel that way about too many people. so let me finish by stating I recommend pamlico boat and fiberglass to restore the finish and paint and they also fabricate parts so if you are unhappy with the appearance of your boat. Take it to Doug @ Pamlico boat.
