The Wasilla Police Department, also known as WPD, offers a range of law enforcement services. It is governed by the City of Wasilla in Alaska, which also operates human resources, public works, and parks and recreation departments. Established in 1993, the Wasilla Police Department serves more than 6,500 residents. The department issues animal registration certificates for dogs, cats, kennels and catteries. It manages a staff of more than 20 commissioned officers. The city additionally maintains fire, finance and economic development departments. Its fire department provides various fire safety programs and services. The city organizes several spring, summer, fall and holiday events.
