West Side Middle School, located in Waterbury, Conn., is a public school that offers educational and extracurricular programs to students in grades six through eight. The school has an enrollment of more than 1,400 students and offers subjects, such as English, mathematics, social studies, science, computer science, health and physical education, music and art. The school also offers a variety of sports activities, including swimming, baseball, basketball, soccer and football. West Side Middle School is affiliated to the Waterbury School District. The school district has a student strength of nearly 18,000 students. It was one of the first districts in Connecticut and the nation to require students to adhere to a school uniform policy.
