Not Your Average Joe's was started in 1994 by Steve Silverstein, who wanted to create a neighborhood place, where people know your name, where the food and prices are reasonable and where you can go without putting on special clothes. The name Not Your Average Joe's was purposely given to show that it is different from any other run-of-the-mill-restaurant rut. Today, the restaurant chain operates more than 10 locations, including one in Watertown, Mass. The restaurant s menu features a variety of appetizers, entrees, salads, sides and desserts. It offers a special children s menu that includes pizzas, pasta, burgers and juices. The restaurant additionally offers specialty dishes, such as mustard-crusted chicken, crab cakes, chicken oscar, Thai curry chicken, herb-crusted, line caught haddock, grilled sirloin tips, balsamic glazed salmon and Mediterranean chicken. Joe s offers its entire menu for takeout. It provides all its recipes online through its Web site. The restaurant also offers gift cards, which are available for all kinds of occasions.
