Pathfinder International, headquartered in Watertown, Mass., is a nonprofit organization that provides support services for the empowerment of women and men. It was established in 1957 and serves more than 20 countries worldwide. The organization supports family planning and reproductive health measures, such as contraception methods. It receives financial support from the United Nations Population Fund and United States and European governments. It offers various programs to provide access to family planning and reproductive health information and services throughout the world. Pathfinder supports postabortion treatment and safe abortion care projects. Additionally, it operates HIV and AIDS projects to provide prevention measures and treatment for individuals affected with the disease. It provides home-based care, drugs and medication for treatment of AIDS and HIV infections to people living below the poverty line. Pathfinder International is recognized by the American Institute of Philnathropy.
