Operational for more than 50 years, Marketplace Foods is a family-owned chain of supermarkets. It was founded by Thelma and John Johanneson in Fargo, N.D. Marketplace Foods deli department offers ready-to-serve meals, sandwiches, soups, baked potatoes, salads and party trays. Its bakery department offers a variety of breads, rolls, bagels, muffins, cakes, pies and cookies. Some of its stores feature pharmacies and are known as Marketplace Food & Drug. Marketplace Foods also sells meat, cheese, fresh produce, juices, health and beauty products and frozen food. It employs more than 1000 associates, and its stores are located in Bemidji, Forest Lake, Moose Lake and Watertown, Minn.; and Valley City and Minot, N.D.
