I got sick

I should've known whenever I read the food service score. It was in the mid-80s. For fine dining experience I've never paid so much to become so sick. I had a bad case of food poisoning. I didn't even make it home. Needless to say I will never ever eat here again.

pass unless you're desperate

Oh man, what an awful little shack of a restaurant.

I'll start with the good:

-The food is better than how most people can cook (because of lack of knowledge, not skill)

-If you don't see anything on the menu you want he'll make up something or whatever you like.

-He likes to come out and talk to the customers when he can.

-The servers are almost always amazing.

Now with the bad:

-Almost all his food is bought at Walmart, Publix, or Kroger. If he says he just got a truckload or delivery in, it most likely means he ran by one of those stores before he came in. If you get mashed potatoes on your plate, they're most likely instant from a box.

-When he says "fresh and never frozen" he means he bought it from one of the previously listed stores and threw it in the freezer when he got to the restaurant. Then before each shift they are set out to thaw, what isn't used is thrown back in the freezer. The cycle repeats until the meat has gone bad or is eaten.

-Everything is overpriced. If the food really was fresh and high quality it would make sense for the prices he charges, but the food isn't special in any way except maybe it was "on special" before he bought it.

-If you eat here you will get fat. He uses a ton of oil and grease in everything. Even his "healthy no oil or fat" chicken dish is cooked with some oil. Almost everything is pan fried.

-That $20 bottle of wine you just bought cost them $3 at Walmart or Kroger. Now imagine the mark-up on the more expensive wines he has to offer.

-On the subject of wine, he has no idea what he's talking about when he runs out of a type (which happens a lot) and suggests another. Merlot and White Zinfandel are not the same for example.

-If you have a complaint he will most likely come out and talk to you about it and offer something else or to fix it. Unless he's in a bad mood or you tell him his food just isn't good. Or like a previous statement, when you call him out on his potatoes being boxed not fresh like promised. That goes for any of his boxed or canned food he tries to pass off as fresh. He gets angry when he's caught lying.

-He'll throw any of his employees under the bus to save himself. If the meat isn't cooked to the right temperature or the food is just wrong he'll blame the waiter or waitress instead of owning up to his mistake.

These are just a few things I've experienced or seen. I'm willing to give a place a second or even sometimes a third try if the experience was mediocre or not good. But it doesn't take long before I realize that it wasn't because it was just a busy night or a mistake but actually because the place isn't good. Going back to this place would be a big mistake on my part.
