Dr. Haas is unprofessional and uncompassionate. We rescued a very malnourished stray cat 7 weeks ago (Boone). We took him to our vet, our vet gave him his shots and medications. Our vet stated there may be underlying issues with Boone, and that he may not live. We took our chances with Boone. We decided if he wasn't gong to make it, we would make the end of his journey the most loved he could possibly receive. Unfortunately, Boone never got better. This afternoon, we decided it would be best to have him put to sleep. With it being a Saturday, we went to The Watsontown Emergency Center. Big mistake... They brought Boone back to us after they inserted the catheter. Then Dr. Haas came in. Immediately stated they have been so busy. He then gave Boone 4 shots in his catheter, as he is saying "He (Boone) would never had made it through the night, then proceeded to tell us he had to put down his dog last week. Dr. Haas robbed us of our final minutes of Boone's life with his excessive talking. We've had other pets we've had to have put to sleep. Each time, our vet administers the injection, then quietly steps aside to allow us to say our final goodbyes. The last thing Boone heard was how Dr. Haas put down his dog. I got upset, and told him he had no compassion, and to please leave the room. Dr. Haas managed to make a sad time in our lives worse. OPEN LETTER TO DR. HAAS: If you were busy, we would have been more than happy to wait, it would have given us more time with Boone. When families come in to have their pets euthanized, whether you've had your pet 7 weeks or 17 years, these pets are family, and are loved. When you had your dog put to sleep, was someone there talking excessively while your dog took his/her final breath? Or, were you able to pet him/her and whisper goodbye? We paid $250 to have him euthanized and cremated, his ashes to be returned to us. I wish you would have had some compassion, it would have made this a whole lot better for Boone and us.
