S. Martinelli & Company has more than four generations under the Martinelli management. A number of local growers supply tree-ripened, handpicked apples to the company. The company has received more than 50 awards for produce excellence and has been named one of the top brands of United States-grown fresh apples. The products contain no concentrates, no added water, no preservatives, no sweeteners and no additives of any kind. Stephen G. Martinelli founded S. Martinelli & Company in 1859 in central California's fertile Pajaro Valley near Monterey Bay, where the apples were of excellent quality for cider making. In 1890, its cider was awarded the first prize gold medal at the California State Fair. In the summer of 1917, the company produced one of the first few thousand cases of unfermented pure apple juice that was pasteurized in pint bottles. S. Martinelli & Company maintains a location in Watsonville, Calif.
