We have been enrolled at ECMA since September. Having tried many "sports" we were skeptical to try Martial Arts. But WOW we have been amazed!! Because of the true care and compassion that each instructor shows to the students and their success, my student is excited and eager to go to karate. They teach them the true purpose of karate and when it is to be used. They have a student creed that each student learns and lives by. At the time of belt testing they are required to fill out a form in regards to their grades, attendance at karate, respect at school and home. They include all aspects of their lives in their training. I am so glad that we chose ECMA and recommend them to everyone who is interested.

I've already learned so much in the short time I have been a member. Ray Sensei and the other black belts are amazing instructors. Members are friendly and very welcoming.

Great Experience! This is a great dojo for a first timer. I am currently a student and have felt welcomed by both the instructors and other students. Everyone is willing to help out and teach you as a beginner. My children also attend ECMA and love it. Mr. Ray teaches with a good balance of discipline and fun. I highly recommend ECMA.

ECMA is one of the best martial arts studios. Mr. Ray and his instructors are second to none and my son loves attending every class.

My family has been so impressed with Ellis County Martial Arts! The instructor, Mr. Ray, and his assistant, Mrs. Whitmire, are highly trained and qualified. I love that the facility allows the students to be trained in a private room while giving parents the opportunity to observe the class with a closed-circuit monitor. My son just completed his first belt test successfully, and my wife and I just completed an anti-victim course after which we are both considering signing up for adult karate courses.

ECMA is an excellent place to learn and train in Kenpo Karate. I like how Mr. Ray keeps some of the traditions in place. Mr. Ray and everyone there, are wonderful and genuine nice people.

My 13yr old takes Karate at ECMA. I love that there is a program that teaches him the importance of respect, discipline, teamwork and most of all how to defend himself and those around him. The Instructor is great. He is always willing to answer any questions or concerns you may have. He also teaches the kids more then just Karate moves. He teaches them life skills. As a parent I love the option of picking our days during the week rather then being set on specific days.

Ellis County Martial Arts is awesome

Ellis County Martial Arts is definitely the place to go to learn martial arts. Mr. Ray and his instructors are very nice and take their time to teach you how to defend yourself when in situations. I've taken previous martial arts classes and I have to say I love this Dojo more than all the previous ones I've been at. If your looking for a Dojo, this is the one.

My son has been attending ECMA for almost 4 months now. I love seeing the smile on his face as he listens and learns to the instructors. They are patient yet firm in what they teach. His self confidence has grown in leaps and bounds and I look forward to seeing all that he can accomplish.

Two of my children attend ECMA. The instructors are top notch and so good with the kids. I love how they also focus on respect. My kids have learned so much and they look forward to classes each week and never complain about going. There are no tournaments or testing fees which is an added bonus. They learn how to defend themselves but are taught never to use karate on their friends, family or at school etc. We are so happy we chose ECMA and our kids are too!

They are really patient with my children. They don't charge any fees for testing or uniforms. They teach self defense, not karate as a sport. My children learned, within minutes of stepping into the class, that they are not to use what they learn outside of the dojo unless they are in a self defense situation. I appreciate that Sensei Ray takes the time to make sure each child learns the skills and doesn't move on until they do. He holds them accountable for their actions, and that has helped my boys become more focused in class as well as at home and school. Awesome place and I recommend anyone who's looking to give it a try!!

A blessing from God!

I have to say, I have never been to a place where I felt more welcome and accepted than Ellis County Martial Arts of Waxahachie. It's a greatly inspiring environment, and everyone is so patient and courteous.

I have been personally training with Mr. Ray (Sensei) for over 6 years and cannot think of one negative thing to say about my entire experience. The quality of the teaching cannot be overstated. The moves are all very straight-forward and practical. Never have I felt singled out or unable to accomplish the things that were taught to me and yet still had many challenges (both physically and mentally) to overcome. The other students have been great to work with as well. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who wants to defend themselves and the people they care about.

I have recvieced and had all types on instruction/instructors over the years. Anything from military, shooting, NRA, parachuting, martial arts as well as others. Of all the instructors I have had Richard Ray has been the best. He is the REAL DEAL and I look forward to working with him again in the future.

My kids and I have been learni...

My kids and I have been learning from Sensei Ray for 8 months now. The amount of real world martial arts we have been taught is amazing. The reason I say "real world" is because ECMA does not teach tournament fighting which most karate dojo's do. I am not interested in my kids fighting for fun, I am only wanting them to be able to defend themselves and loved ones in a real world altercation. My kids are 7 and 8 and already have much more confidence than before. Plus they can kick the ceiling now. :^) I myself am 43 and have enjoyed learning from not only a great martial artist " Senei Ray" but from a great person. Also, with the great workouts we have I have lost 13lbs, which my wife loves!
