Be very careful at this place. You will be "recommended" a lot of additional things. And before you know it, you will be sent a bill for hundreds of dollars. They will never call you and explain the bill to you, and they didn't explain it in the office either. I have possibly the best insurance out there. We pay zero for anything and everything. Yet these people were able to add-on a bunch of x-rays without telling us.

Ask them to explain EVERYTHING TO YOU BEFORE they do it. And all the cost associated with it.

I took my 5yr old there. The nurse told "it was rude" to not listen to her. My daughter kept saying it hurts, it hurts. And the nurse said it was the kid's fault because she was the professional. WTF!!! But then I found out why. They said it would be easier with Anesthesia. It would COST JUST A LITTLE more but it would much more pleasant.

They made my 5 year old daughter wait for an hour in the chair before they even came in to start the fillings. When she freaked out in the middle of them, they put in temporary fillings and wanted me to come back later and pay an extra $900 for them to do sedation dentistry. Told me I was in network and I wasn't, it's been over a year of me calling them, and them not calling me back, because they sent me a $450 bill that they threatened to take me to collections over. My insurance says I am not in network, finally I contacted the BBB, got a call that day. They took off the amount it would have been if I had been in network like they told me, but added in 'balance billing'(if you don't know what that is, Google it, illegal in many states) of over $300 and now say my bill is $227.92. Service date was 11/21/2013. It's now 12/10/2014 and I am STILL dealing with this headache.

My children had a very painful experience at this dental office

The nurse who did the cleaning was very rude and careless, she even made my 16 year old daughter cried during the cleaning ( believe me, my daughter is not a wimpy kid, she is a tough hockey player). My 10 year old also refused to go back there after her visit. We found a different pediatric dental office this year, both kids are now very happy to see their dentist.

Dr. Young is AWESOME!!

My son has seen Dr. Young on several occassions. As with any child, he was very anxious before his first visit. This is coming from a 11 year old that has only been seen by seen the same family physician since he was 2 years old. He doesn't trust anyone else. After his first visit with Dr. Young we found out he had 2 small cavities. He was very nervous to go back to have them filled and Dr. Young picked up on that. He told his receptionist to schedule his appointment on his day off because of his anxiety!!!!! After the procedure he couldn't believe that Dr. Young had even touched him!!! He even said that he hopes Dr. Young will still see him when he gets older because he wouldn't trust anyone else. Needless to say, he is very excited about his appointment in February for his regular cleaning!! Would recommend him to anyone with children!!!

Awesome

My two year old has had two appointments at Y & P thus far and both times they have been AMAZING. The staff is great, the service is wonderful, even the waiting room is fun.

Do not take your child to Youn...

Do not take your child to Young and Polite Children's Dentistry unless you are assured that Dr. Lucas will not be your dentist. She was unprofessional and put my child through the most painful and tortuous experience. When my child raised their hand to show pain she would throw her glove and mask down and walk out of the room. She left a device in my child's mouth to hold it open for over an hour. My child has now suffered from nerve damage and bruised membranes from the shots that were given from Dr. Lucas. My child's mouth now droops on one side and when I attempted to contact their emergency line for hours upon hours, I never received any help or guidance. I was told each time that they would have a doctor call me within 30 minutes, but no one ever did. This went on for hours. My child's face and spirit are precious in my eyes, but this dentist has damaged both.
