Wayne Elementary School is a part of the Wayne County School District and is located in Wayne, W.Va. The school enrolls more than 450 students in grades kindergarten through five. The school s curriculum includes classes in reading and writing, language arts, Spanish, English, math, science and social studies. Each student receives computer-assisted instruction. The classes consist of basic computer skills and academic instruction in the areas of reading, math and writing. Wayne Elementary provides special education services to eligible students, such as learning disabilities, physically impaired, mildly and moderately mentally impaired, gifted and behavior disorders. Students at the school participate in various activities that include junior achievement, elementary schools that work, career dress up day, accelerated reader, accelerated math and West Virginia ReadAloud.
