Join us at the Olde Brick House for a lively chat; perhaps a sip of tea. As we stroll through the house, we venture to the Amish crafted bedroom set: crafted in Pennsylvania in a simple Shaker style with two-tone finish. These pieces are constructed to last a lifetime. Spread on the bed is a bright, cozy hand-quilted quilt with just a few pillows to make everything comfy. The bedside lamp has a tin punched shade and is sitting on a hand-crocheted doily that has aged a bit. A loomed throw, the pattern circa 1800, draped at the foot of the bed is ready for a quick nap or as another layer for a cold night. Above the bed a framed print of a folk-art townscape by Bonnie White radiates bright colors carrying you back to early times in a quiet town. The rocking chair beside the bed tells the story of many nights rocking a sweet child to sleep. On the floor is a hand-painted canvas floor cloth. This and other settings are spread throughout the house. We invite you to come and explore each one. There's so much to see and smell and enjoy! We're looking forward to seeing you soon.Join us at the Olde Brick House for a lively chat; perhaps a sip of tea. I have purchased numerous gifts from this store for years. I purchased an item from them several months ago, got it home and it didn’t work. When I contacted the staff by phone, they assured me they would gladly exchange it. I exchanged the defective item, being given a new one by a staff member. When I got it home, it worked for two days and then stopped working. I returned to the store again to exchange it. This time the owner waited on me. He examined the item, confirmed it wasn’t working and then stated he couldn’t exchange it. He said he hadn’t sold the particular brand of item for several years - he was able to identify that by a marking on it. I informed him I didn’t know anything about the age of the item but that his own staff had given it to me recently as an exchange. The staff member who had waited on me when I originally exchanged the item witnessed my interaction with the owner. She told him they still had some of the old items in stock and occasionally they made it to the shelves. Despite hearing what the staff member said, the owner still refused to exchange what he said was an outdated item. I explained it wasn’t my fault that they exchanged a defective item they had sold me for an outdated one. The owner still refused to replace it.
I’m disappointed I paid for an item that didn’t work and wasn’t effectively replaced. But I’m more disturbed that the owner refused to accept responsibility and ignored the truth provided by me and his own employee. This is an issue of character. In the future I won’t be giving my money to someone who is not a person of integrity.
