I have worked with this company for almost five years. The culture here has always been negative however, it has consistently declined over time. I have experienced extreme harassment that creates an unwelcome and hostile work environment and this has never been handled properly by HR. In fact, management tried to place blame on me so they wouldn’t have to deal with it. If you are wondering how employees could possibly behave this way, it is because Management and Supervisors foster this kind of environment.
Management frequently lies to employees as an easy way out. They are only concerned with their own pockets and show no respect towards associates. The policies they implement are solely for their and Supervisors benefit while most policies make it difficult for a hard working associate to succeed.
Supervisors are allowed to slander, discriminate against, and disrespect associates since associates are viewed as scum in this company. Supervisors lie, cheat, and brown nose their way into a promotion. Most Supervisors are not qualified for the job nor are they professional enough. The only way to get promoted is too politic with the Operations Manager.
Supervisor’s lack of skill and integrity definitely shows in the way they manage a team. Frequently this aspect is filled with politics as well. Associates who are considered “buddies” are not addressed for negative behaviors such as extremely poor attendance, rude customer interaction, low productivity, poor attitude towards co-workers etc… However, employees who do not suck up are often fired for the smallest of offenses that should only warrant a write up, employees are definitely pushed out the door here. For example, the attendance policy is not applied consistently for all associates. There are well liked associates who have missed thirty days with no write up at all while there are other associates who have 1 unexcused absence, 2 excused weather days, and bereavement leave (which is protected by law) who have been fired.
If you have any respect for yourself and any morals at all, this is not the place for you to work. Yes it pays a little more than fast food and has better benefits however, your happiness if far more important. When your work environment is this miserable it is hard to leave those feelings at work when you go home.
