North Windy Ridge, also known as NWR, is an educational institution that offers a range of academic options to students in grades five and six. Founded in 2002, the school has an enrollment of more than 590 students. Its curriculum includes reading, math, social studies, science, art, music, and health and physical education. North Windy Ridge administers the Title I program, as well as provides guidance counseling services. The school maintains a media center that has a collection of books. It operates a parent-teacher organization that serves as a resource for students, parents and staff members. North Windy Ridge maintains landscaping, Spanish, guitar and comedy clubs. The school offers a variety of athletic activities, such as football, basketball and soccer. It is a part of Buncombe County Schools.
