Founded in 1977, CDS is a nonprofit agency supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in Rochester, N.Y., and surrounding counties, and provides support to more than 1,700 adults and children. CDS offers residential services and individual support for each of its residents. It offers various homes and apartments that are located in villages, cities and suburban neighborhoods. Suited to individual preferences and choices, the center offers a wide selection of home types, sizes and locations. Unistel is the training and manufacturing division of CDS that provides personal development and employment opportunities for individuals. It offers employment, training and prevocational services to prepare participants for community employment. It additionally offers day habilitation, on-site clinical services, and various therapeutic programs, such as volunteer opportunities, art and music therapy, gardening, woodworking, theater, and swimming. It also provides various family support and children s services, such as speech, language, occupational and physical therapies, and special education programs. CDS is located in Fairport, N.Y.
