I CANNOT RECOMMEND this doctor. As a healthcare professional myself I “get how it is” and consider myself a very easy patient, but I was so turned off by my experience with Dr. Cohen that I feel the need to inform other moms to be.

I was referred to him by my OB for the detailed anatomy scans and the first 2 visits were okay-the doctor wasn’t overly warm and friendly but I get that he’s not getting paid to be my friend so I gave him a pass. The conflicts with him started after I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and was sent to him again for a sugar consultation. He was indifferent and condescending and I definitely felt rushed since I was clearly the last patient of the day.

My mother came to follow up US and Dr. Cohen was VERY RUDE to her, he didn’t even acknowledge her when he walked in the room to “check the baby” which he didn’t even do. I say he didn’t do this because when he picked up the US wand he made one slight meaningless circle over a non-descript area that wasn’t even the baby then he put it down and walked away. His US tech had to come in and tell us to go to his office to discuss my glucose readings. He was clearly annoyed with me for not getting a specific blood test he ordered but I just didn’t have time to do. He told me the glucose readings were normal but gave no other instruction. Again, I was the last patient of the day and my mother and I ended up on the elevator with him. I know enough to respect a doctors time when they off clock so I while my mother and I talked (not to him!), the doctor rolled his eyes and banged his head against the elevator wall…yes…banged his head against the elevator wall as if he couldn’t stand to be in the same space as us for one more second. My mom encouraged me to find another doctor, but I thought everyone has a bad day now and then.

Next visit doctor asks me for my glucose readings, but I didn’t write them down as he never instructed me to do so, and he led me to believe last time that after my blood test results came in we would re-visit what he wanted me to do. He condescendingly told me that he never told me to stop writing them and made me feel like a child who misbehaved in school. I answered back that he never called me with my test results and it had been two weeks so I figured there was no problem. He didn’t apologize for neglecting my results.

Bottom line, this man is the opposite of a person who should be working with babies and expectant moms. He is clearly over it in terms of finding any joy in his job and does nothing to hide his exasperated attitude. You can literally see him counting down the days to retirement and if he’s not then he should be.
