I have been twice on the 5 mile trip and what a relaxing journey! My next one will be the 9 mile ❤️

We were visiting family in Barre, but wanted to kayak Lake Willoughsby, VT. I just randomly found Clyde River Recreation on the internet and brought the phone number with us, just in case we had time to do it on our trip. We had ONE day, called that morning, they said just to call when we were close. They met us promptly with two very good kayaks and gear. The weather was very iffy and the owner instructed us to stay close to shore...it turned into a beautiful day, and was truly the best day of vacation we had! We didn't have a lot of time, and spent no more than two hours on the lake; (which we were perfectly happy with!) the owner was sad we had such little time (we did a day rental), he offered us a free river trip the next time we came. Prompt, courteous service, and above and beyond satisfying the customer! I would highly recommend this company to anyone, and look forward to our next trip!

This was a great afternoon for us with two teenage girls. The scenery is beautiful and the river is easy to navigate but for a few areas filled with tree limbs. This was easy for the girls with the one-person kayaks but a challenge for us in a two-person kayak over. With that said, it was a fun challenge and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The owner was accommodating and friendly and it is a great deal for an afternoon of healthy fun. We will definitely do it again!

This is such a fun time! The owners are super nice and make your day so much more pleasant! It is so relaxing. There are two locations for a change of scenery. It is a great feeling to experience the nature and a great sense of accomplishment when you reach the end! I would recommend this to anyone! If anyone has traveled to Saco River in Maine, this is way better because it is more private and the people working make you feel right at home.

This is the most family oriented place to be. Join the Clyde River Family for a leisurely trip down the lazy river.......Chris and Pat and their employees make everyone feel so welcome and a part of a family. I fought doing the trip for the first two years until I was finally convinced to do it..........it was the most memorable experience ; had many beautiful sights to absorb and lots of laughs with my family and friends. Can't wait to go again. My grand daughter will be having her 5th birthday there in July. This will be her 4th birthday on the Clyde River and she wants to be no where else!!!!!!!! I suspect Clyde River is now our tradition!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Clyde River Rec!

Exciting river trip and the friendliest people in the Northeast Kingdom!



I've gone with first-timers and seasoned paddlers... EVERYBODY loves that stretch of the Clyde River! About an 45 minutes into your paddle (depending on your speed) there's a nice sandbar on the left bank where you can hop out and relax for a few.



Also, don't think you can only go on sunny days... it's a blast during a downpour (granted there's no lighting)!



A MUST DO in the NEK.

This is not only a beautiful, relaxing experience, but it's an experience for all ages. If you love the outdoors (even if you DON'T), and are sick of playing mini golf, you need to check this place out! I will guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

The folks at Clyde River Recreation are great! Super nice and efficient. They set you up with everything you need to paddle and then drive you up river and help you get started paddling. The guys make sure they give you good instructions and directions, although you don't need too much help because the river is beautiful, easy to paddle and it is not often in question which way you need to go. The lake you end up in at the end of your journey is absolutely beautiful and the paddle it takes to get there is leisurely, fun and only takes about 3 hours. I had a blast!!
