Good and Bad

My husband received his initial oxygen converter with no problem. His insurance company paid for it in full, but we kept getting notices stating we had an outstanding balance. It took almost three months for us to finally get a written statement from the local rep that there was NO balance due.



My husband's physician prescribed - out of medical necessity because of the type of work my husband does - a portable oxygen converter rather than the oxygen tanks. The first prescription was faxed to Esteem Care by the doctor's office the end of July - no response. The second prescription was faxed by the doctor's office to Esteem Care with the letter of medical necessity the end of September - no response. I made several telephone calls regarding status after the September transmission and was told by the representative that there wasn't any point in her taking the time to submit it to the insurance agency because she had been doing this for ten years and they weren't going to approve it! Excuse me ... when you get a script for something, aren't you required to submit it?



My husband's physician has again submitted the Rx and medical necessity statement to Esteem Care and I am supposed to pick up his unit today. We'll see ... My husband is now being relieved of his job because of inability to perform his assigned duties because he has not had the portable air converter since July. So here we are ...
