Lindsey Aeschliman, ARNP
5950 University Ave, West Des Moines, IA 50266
Lindsey Aeschliman, ARNP joined The Iowa Clinic because of our multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. During her clinical rotation within the Internal Medicine Department, she was impressed by the teamwork among physicians and providers from other departments, who needed consultations for their patients.
Forming relationships with patients and their families, educating them about their condition, and seeing their overall health improve are what Lindsey finds most rewarding. However, her passion for Cardiology and fascination with the heart came from someone more personal — her father. He was born with congenital heart disease and has had multiple surgeries throughout his lifetime. Thus, to help those like him, she has spent much of her career working in cardiac surgical ICU.
Dedication to her patients was seen as she recalls caring for a young female patient while working at Mayo Clinic in the adult/pediatric cardiac surgical ICU. This patient was on her fourth open heart surgery, thus was hospitalized for a prolonged period. To make her forget about being in the hospital, Lindsey would bring her favorite snacks, play games or watch movies. To this day, they still communicate. Her patients and the love of her father continue to drive her to make a difference.
