Established in 1935, West Friendship Elementary School offers educational opportunities for more than 395 students in kindergarten through grade five. It offers classes in physical education and mathematics. The school operates a parent-teacher association that promotes several fundraising activities. West Friendship Elementary School also conducts gifted and talented education classes. It is a part of the Howard County School System, which enrolls students in various elementary, middle and high schools. The Howard County School System also administers Atholton Elementary School, Bushy Park Elementary School, Bonnie Branch Middle School and Centennial High School.
