Budget Truck Rental

We are procrastinators. Had to book a truck Wednesday for the following Saturday, and UHaul (our first choice) had no trucks within a few miles available. So we called this place...was told a 24 hour rental (9:30am - 9:30 am) would be $44.95 plus $0.99/mile. (That was with a 5% discount given, which initally seemed like a nice perk).



Imagine my surprise then when I received a phone call/subsequent voice mail (while at a wedding Friday night) AFTER NORMAL business hours that there was a problem. I called back and was told the truck we rented now had to be back Saturday by 4pm. After being told this, I paused for a few seconds, and the company representative asked, "Will this be an inconvenience?" Um, DUH!



Turns out the woman I initially spoke to had NO CLUE what she was talking about (however, they apparently allow her to book truck rentals - awesome!), and a 24 hour rental is considered a two day rental and the price doubles.



We were told we could pick the truck up earlier at 8:30 (FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE!), and decided to keep the 9:30 pick up time, with a return time of 5:00pm. At 3:35, my phone rang and it was Budget asking "how much longer" did we need the truck? I was no longer with my husband and friends, so I told them as far as I knew we were using and returning the truck at 5, as agreed (AND PAID FOR!). The employee then stated, "Oh. Well, I have a customer here waiting for that truck." Well, tough tiddlywinks, man! I was instructed to have my husband call Budget, which I did (laughingly). My husband then demanded that if we were going to return the truck earlier than agreed, we wanted a discount. They knocked $20 off, which was appreciated, HOWEVER, it still ended up costing over $80.00 and TOTALLY not worth the MAJOR AGGRAVATION caused by their employees and their lack of knowledge, obvious double-booking and shady quotes/misinformation.



Stuck with UHaul people, and avoid privately owned Budget places like this one!! YUCK!
