Copper Canyon Elementary School, located in West Jordan, Utah, is part of Jordan School District, the largest of Utah s school districts. Founded in 2004, it features large classrooms, centrally located media center and up-to-date computer lab. It serves more than 1,000 students in preschool and grades kindergarten through six. The school offers a nutritious breakfast each school day. Its curriculum meets state standards and uses the Houghton Miffin Reading Program and the Scott Forsman Math program. It implements a school-wide positive behavior program to recognize students for the good behavior and achievements. Students in grades three to six are given the opportunities to earn a Presidential Physical Fitness Award through participation in yearlong fitness activities. Copper Canyon Elementary School s extracurricular activities include music programs involving choir and orchestra, student council to help students become involved in leadership positions, and various sports, such as basketball, volleyball and softball.
