The West Lafayette Fire Department provides fire and medical response services to citizens of the city. The department responds to more than 1,200 incidents each year. The department is staffed by over 20 professional firefighters. It provides fire protection, emergency medical services, hazardous materials intervention, and technical and specialized rescue services to citizens. The department is also responsible for conducting fire safety inspections in commercial occupancies and places of public assembly and conducting educational programs for the public. The West Lafayette Fire Department is a part of the city of West Lafayette, Ind., which also includes finance, police and public works departments.
