Grand Haven touts themselves as a major builder - they are not. There is really 1 owner. Normally, that would be an advantage where you would get personalized service and customizations, especially since they consider themselves a custom home builder - we were not allowed to paint baseboards a slighlty darker hue of tan.



The value is simply not there, being a smaller builder they have to charge premiums other builders don't. Once you do the math and see the cost by sq/ft, other home builders like Monterrey, Mercedes, beat them by a mile.



Our sales guy was great, the owner Eric Rome was terrible. Very unreasonable, terrible customer service and incredibly arrogant.



The outdoor livng which is very subpar for the price. Newmark, Drees have much better outdoor living options. They do some neat things and use some top of the line features like the high-end kitchen.



They are a very small builder with small resources, you do not get the economies of scale of other builders, therefore pay a premium for a non-premium product. Hopefully you do not need to deal with Eric Rome. I would never deal with them again, overall a terrible experience.
