Established in 1999, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is responsible for the management of fish and wildlife resources. The commission maintains a work force of more than 1,900 employees. It has regional offices in Panama City, Lake City, Ocala, Lakeland and West Palm Beach in Florida. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission protects over 1,200 species of wildlife and freshwater and saltwater fish. It additionally operates the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute. The commission conducts hunter safety training and boating safety classes. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission provides research and outreach services, as well as maintains a hunting and game management division.
