The Oakwood Center of the Palm Beaches is a nonprofit organization governed by a fifteen-member volunteer board of directors offering crisis intervention, screening and evaluation services conducted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The primary focus is on children and seniors who have immediate and acute needs. The centers are staffed by interdisciplinary teams of licensed psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, mental health counselors, certified addictions professionals and other disciplines. The West Unit provides therapeutic intervention services to adults in psychiatric crisis. Services include assessment, treatment planning, and intervention. The East Unit meets the behavioral healthcare needs of persons over 60 years of age, as well as others who are frail or in need of a low stimulus environment. The center is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations.
