Upright Fence did a great job on my privacy fence—from John quoting to Robert & James installing & finishing. Very professional and courteous.

I absolutely loved working with Upright Fence this past year. I decided over the winter that I needed a new fence and immediately called them. Their staff was so professional and was out as soon as the ground thawed to put in my fence. It took about 2 days and I could not have been happier.

A few years ago, I had a lovely vinyl fence installed. I loved it, and even recommended this company to others. The installation process went just fine.

It was, however, this last year trying to get service under their 5-year warranty that has led me to this bad review. It all started in April, when I tried to open my gate and realized one of the posts had shifted so much that I could not open it. I looked around the rest of the yard and saw another post that had also shifted quite a bit. It was a rough winter and I figured these things happen. Since I need a functioning gate, I called the fence company. I was told a message was left for one of the installers to look at it and I would hear back in a couple days. I did not.

A week later, I called again. There was no record of my previous call. I was told the same things...someone will get back to me. Again, I heard nothing. I called back and insisted that a date was set up for someone to come look at my gate and fence. I cannot live without a functioning gate...I have dogs, I lawnmower etc. Also, this is covered under their 5-year installation warranty so I felt they need to take care of it. A date was set I was told that I would get a call with the thoughts of the serviceman after he visited. The date came and went, and I heard nothing. So I called them. I was told that the guy did come and look at my gate, and agreed that it needed fixing. When I asked about the other fence post, I was asked "what other post?" Obviously another bad message. So, I was told to wait a couple weeks and they would fit me in the schedule since it's a small job. I waited 3 weeks. I called them again.I was told they hadn't found time to do it yet. I again explained how I was barely unable to open my gate (I could now if I pounded on it but have to lock it with a key to ensure it stays closed), and how this was extremely inconvenient, and I was worried about damaging it more with the pressure on the fixtures from being crooked. I was told to wait.
This takes me into June. I called AGAIN. I was again told I had to wait.

Well now it is August and I have heard nothing from these people. I am done with them. Instead of the glowing recommendations I once gave, I now recommend everyone go elsewhere. Sure you might get a nice fence, but have any problems and you are screwed. Their warranty means nothing.

Beware of this company if you're getting a vinyl gate installed. They deliberately use post stiffeners that are to short. Your gate will be held in place by one hinge connected to aluminum, and the other just screwed into the PVC post. The result is a gate that sags after one month. This method isn't approved by the Westland building director, and the owner of this company promised he would fix it. It's been 6 months, and still a no show. I will never use this company again.

The Westland Building Director and your salesman Ken came to my house last summer to discuss this complaint. You were to be there as well, just another no show. I guess discussing customer complaints isn't your forte. All three of us in attendance agreed that your install needed modification for the top hinge just attached to the PVC post. Your salesman was told by the director that the gate would not pass final inspection until this was corrected. For you to post this complete fabrication shows what a lowly business person you really are. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY. THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY. THEY WILL NOT FIX ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE INSTALL. THEY DO NOT WANT REPEAT BUSINESS.

We had our house built in 2005 and shortly after moving in, we had our landscaping done and then had our 6 foot privacy vinyl fence installed. We had a couple of quotes and since they were both in the same ball park, we went with Upright Fence for no particular reason at that time. Now, 13 years later, our vinyl fence is still holding strong. I haven't had any issues except for a gate that needed to be adjusted many years after the initial installation. Gravity will eventually win that battle. I have had them back on 2 other occasions over the years; first to make one of my gates wider and then second, to extend my fence after I bought property behind me. I have seen other vinyl fences in my neighborhood come apart with the strong winds that we occasionally have; however, my fence has always stood up against these winds. Just as important to me-they were prompt with their work and returned phone calls.

I love my fence but cannot get warranty service. I have called for six weeks trying to get someone to come out and check on an eight foot section that is leaning. I have referred several people to them and wish I had not. I call and even though they say they will call me back, they don't. I speak to someone different every time with no resolution in sight. They should be ashamed of their unprofessional service! I am so sorry I chose this company.

My grandmother's next-door neighbor had a fence installed last fall, which she didn't want. It is on the property line, but my Grandma had never been asked to sign an approval form, which is supposed to be submitted with the permit request. Looked up the permit - was for inside the property line (3 ft). Called Up(fill in) and they said it was too late to do anything.

I had been taken advantage so many times being a widow. Empire carpet. Wall side windows. Home depot. Etc. I was real nervous about getting my old wood fence fixed. My son and I called a few different places to get quotes. Upright was the only company that did not pressure me into a sale. Ken was a nice salesman. I went up to the company later and paid for half the job. The people in the office were nice. Two weeks later the workers came. Rob and Jeremy. They were very nice, respectful, and polite. I've never seen men work so hard. They were lifting great big chunks of cement out of the ground from the old posts. They got a huge amount of work done in one day. They cleaned up their mess and even hauled off 2 wheel barrels full of cement chunks that my sloppy neighbor had in the way of the fence. Which is y I'm happy I have the privacy fence. I am extremely happy and grateful that upright sent these 2 men to my house. I even asked if they had any other skills. If he knew how to install carpet or windows I would have hired him on the spot. Overall I'm very pleased with the company and its employees.

This company was excellent. We had a pretty big job and looked around a lot of different places. They had a great selection of options and the personal service was exceptional from Upright Fence. They were great people to work with and did everything they could to bring down the price of my job, they even matched and beat another company's price! This is an EXCELLENT company to do business with!

These guys are great. I got my fence a couple months back and it looks perfect. The salesman promised one thing and that's what I got. I am very pleased and will definetly recommend these guys to anyone. They are the best fence business in the Metro Detroit area. Thanks again.

I also was lied to about how my gate would be installed. This company will say whatever it takes to grab your money...then not fix their mistakes. Do what I did, send them a certified letter demanding they fix it or you will pay to have someone else fix it...then sue them. To anyone reading this...stay clear of this company.

I purchased a black vinyl coated chainlink fence. The salesman was helpful and understood what I wanted, but he promised & what I received were two different things. He had told me that everything was going to be black except the latch, but when I asked about taking that piece so I could paint it & have it dry when I picked up the gate later in the week he said not to, and that he would have it painted for me. Well, trhe reality is that after waiting an hour for a gate that wad supposedly ready to go, I received a silver latch, silver anchor posts, a mix of silver & black hardware and a can of paint. Nice. The overall quality was pretty crappy as well. There are a Ron of runs in the supposedly vinyl coated corners, the vinyl was cracked on almost all of the attaching clips and it looked like the fence was dragged through the shop a few time and had several bare spots. When I pointed all this out to the salesman he just has one excuse after another and said I could just touch it up with the can of paint he gave me. I told him that I just paid a pretty penny for a brand new gate and I shouldn't need to touch it up. He finally agreed to replace the cracked pieces, but what crappy quality and crappy customer service.
