At Green Ostrich, we help people live well and refresh the Earth. We serve customers that want to make changes, not sacrifices to their lifestyles. We serve those who want to use Earth-friendly, durable green gifts and products instead of resource-intensive, disposable commodities. We believe that the power to make change rests with the individual consumer. When consumers decide to make the Earth a priority, the priorities of businesses and governments will shift. We founded Green Ostrich in 2009, a woman-owned business, because we noticed that the stores that we frequent do not have a lot of Earth-friendly products. We also noticed that internet retailers, by comparison, use a fraction of the energy used by a traditional retailer. So, we decided to create an online store that was completely dedicated to Earth-friendly. Why did we pick an ostrich? The ostrich is one of the most earth-friendly animals in the world. They compare favorably with cattle, poultry, and pigs, because they require less feed and less land, and they reproduce quickly. Ostriches are durable; true dinosaurs, they have roamed this planet for over 120 million years. They live at least 40 years in the wild, and they are known to live as long as 70 years in captivity. Ostriches are also memorable; frankly, they are funny-looking. Our Earth-friendly, durable, memorable products have a lot in common with an ostrich.
