I take Abbott's Synthroid, which uses very different colors for each dosage to help ensure patients receive the correct dosage. I picked up my prescription for Synthroid, 150mcg, with the dosage stated as 150mcg on the bottle. When I got home and opened the bottle, I noticed that half of the pills were pink, and half were blue! I read the small writing and saw that the blue ones were 150mcg, but the pink were 175mcg! I drove back to the pharmacy, where the head pharmacist said he didn't know how this could happen, and showed me that the two bottles from Abbott look the same (but the labels clearly state the dosage). I said, "But one pill is pink and one is blue. How could someone miss that?" He had no answer, and just apologized. Someone easily could have taken the wrong dosage, which is serious in patients with hypothyroidism. The pharmacy manager called later that night and apologized again, which was very considerate.
