Dropped off my 2003 Acura 3.2 TL at Universal Upholstery (UU) on 5/20/10, to replace the leather driver’s seat covering: quoted cost $200. At pickup, 11am 5/22/10, I found two techs under the hood of my car. After reupholstering, neither driver’s side seat controller (seat movement front/back & tilt forward/back) worked. Also, SRS Warning Light (air bags) was lit. As was true -- and owner, Leon Povzner, admitted such to me that day -- at drop off, both controllers were operational, & the SRS light was not lit. UU staff could not diagnose/repair the problem. Also, since the power seat couldn't move, UU couldn't bolt down the driver’s seat. To address these safety issues, I had to take my car for diagnosis/repair to Acura of Libertyville. Acura found a DAMAGED driver’s side seat wire harness - total cost (parts, tax, labor): $482. I contacted UU many times by phone & 2x by registered mail for reimbursement; I received NO REPLY. UU has NO IDEA how to act in an honest manner.

The serviceman (Valentine) showed up on time. I had a problem with my electric recliner sofa, Berkline brand. After he took a look at the problem, he found dislocate screws and tightened them. However, one of two connecting parts between the motor and the frame was bent and it was obvious that I would have an issue with it in the future. So, he just tightened the screws and when I asked if he would replace the part as well, he told me that he did not have the part, would have to order it from the manufacturer, but that I would have to pay another $75 for service next time he shows up to replace it. If the serviceman does not have the part available, I understand that, but re-charging me again for an INCOMPLETE service is insane, because the service charge -I'm afraid- will surpass the cost of the sofa soon. Put it this way, Universal wants to charge you each time they show up, whether it is related to the same problem or a separate one. I don't know what kind of standards they maintain

THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS GREAT. PLEASURE TO DO BUISNESS WITH . THE PEOPLE IN THE OFFICE EUGENE AND AUDREY ARE TERRIFIC . THE WORK THAT COMES OUT OF THEIR UPHOLSTERY SHOP IS HIGH END. SAVED SO MUCH MONEY REUPHOLSTERING RATHER THAN BUYING NEW FURNITURE. AND END RESULT MY OLD FURNITURE CAME OUT BETTER THAN THE DAY IT WAS NEW.JUST ASK FOR LEON HE WILL GUIDE YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION WITH ANY OF YOUR FURNITURE NEEDS
